Welcome to the EV BATTERY RECYCLING & REUSE ASIA 2024 Exhibition and Conference, where leading automotive companies will meet with experts in Singapore to explore end-of-service battery recycling and repurposing initiatives for the next generation of electric vehicle batteries.
The automotive industry is fast-evolving, with rapid growth in manufacturing lithium-ion batteries for use in electric vehicles. With earlier developed EV batteries approaching the end-of-life, it is increasingly important to address the economic, environmental, and strategic benefits of recycling and repurposing spent batteries and establish a circular economy.
Recycling Initiatives
By 2025, Nissan estimates tens of thousands of electric vehicles will contain end-of-service batteries. These must be recycled efficiently to counter the ongoing scarcities of essential raw materials and reduce the industry's reliance on environmentally intensive mining for battery development. In addition, innovations can rapidly extract valuable materials from existing battery packs and change the chemistries to ensure successful recycling to produce new electric vehicles.
Reuse Initiatives
As EV batteries reach end-of-service, they can still store at least 70% of their original capacity, which can be repurposed for "second life" energy storage. Applications can include electrical grids and communications towers that demand energy storage for solar farms, wind farms, and other renewable sources. However, as manufacturers produce battery packs with varying mechanical and chemical complexities, one of the industry's key challenges is achieving standardisation across global manufacturers to enable repurposing initiatives.
Thank you to all of our supporters and participants from previous events. Here’s a short clip below.
This year’s EV BATTERY RECYCLING & REUSE ASIA 2024 event is set to become the world's leading exhibition and conference exclusively for EV battery recycling and reuse innovation. Attendees will meet and collaborate with a large array of automotive and battery manufacturers to examine new methods and technical know-how and address the specific challenges associated with recycling and repurposing lithium-ion batteries from retired electric vehicles.
Key topics on this year’s agenda include:
- Economic fundamentals of electric vehicle battery recycling and reuse
- Exploring electric vehicles battery recycling techniques and battery reuse initiatives
- New raw materials extraction and processing strategies for recycling EV battery packs
- Latest research in repurposing electric vehicle batteries for new energy storage solutions
- Upcoming environmental regulations and safety standards for managing end-of-life batteries
- Manufacturer case studies on standardisation and how to achieve a circular economy
This exhibition and conference will provide a forum for all stakeholders across the electric vehicles battery supply chain, from suppliers and service providers to equipment manufacturers for the automotive industry, to network and build cross-market relationships and to discuss the real challenges and opportunities in recycling and repurposing end-of-service batteries for economic, environmental, and strategic benefits to the industry.
